Report: Knicks agree to 1-year deal with Lou Amundson

It's finally time for Lou Amundson to change his Twitter bio.

The career journeyman has agreed to a one-year, $1.65-million deal with the New York Knicks, according to a report from Al Iannazzone of the New York Daily News.

The Knicks were able to go a shade beyond the veteran minimum salary without using their $2.8-million Room Exception, which is reportedly earmarked for Alexey Shved. With plenty of new faces added this offseason, New York had been clear it wanted to retain at least a few free agents to avoid entering 2015-16 with an entire roster turned over.

Amundson was acquired in a three-team trade in January and immediately waived, only for the Knicks to sign him back a few days later, first on 10-day contracts and then for the remainder of the season. He endeared himself enough to the Knicks that general manager Steve Mills touted him as "a guy who can be part of something" and someone the team wanted to retain.

To this point in his career, Amundson has changed locations so many times that his Twitter biography leaves a blank space for his current team.

The Knicks are the 10th team he's played for in nine seasons, and 2014-15 represented the most success he's enjoyed at any stop. In 41 games with New York, including 35 starts, Amundson averaged six points, six rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.3 blocks, well above his respective career averages of 3.8, 3.7, 0.4, and 0.7.

His role will almost surely be smaller this season with Robin Lopez, Derrick Williams, Kyle O'Quinn, and Kristaps Porzingis added to the frontcourt, but head coach Derek Fisher will appreciate having one familiar face to turn to when the team needs some grit off the bench.
