Jerry Colangelo: Durant, George must attend Team USA summer camp to play in Olympics

USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo expects Kevin Durant and Paul George to attend a minicamp this summer if they plan on representing the United States at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Durant and George were both expected to play for Team USA at last summer's FIBA Basketball World Cup before George suffered a gruesome leg injury during a televised team scrimmage and Durant withdrew.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star later admitted that witnessing George break his leg contributed to his decision to remove himself from the roster.

Durant is also coming off a frustrating season that saw him miss 55 games due to a Jones fracture in his right foot that required multiple surgeries, including one on March 31.

Colangelo wanting George and Durant with the team in August is understandable given the events of the last year, but it's hard to believe he would turn two All-NBA talents away from the Olympic team should they want to partake in a year's time.

The U.S. men's team has no tournament commitments this summer.
