The Detroit Pistons have officially re-signed point guard Reggie Jackson to a multi-year contract worth a reported $80 million over five years.
"We're pleased to have reached an agreement with Reggie Jackson that will keep him with the organization for multiple years," said head coach and president of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy in the team's release.
"Reggie is a team-first type player who developed great chemistry with our core players following his midseason acquisition. We feel he has a tremendous future ahead of him and he'll be a major contributor to our team moving forward."
Jackson was traded to the Motor City from the Oklahoma City Thunder prior to the trade deadline in a three-team deal that also included the Utah Jazz.
Detroit needed a competent hand to run the point after Brandon Jennings suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon in late-January, resulting in the trade to acquire Jackson.
The 25-year-old Boston College alumnus started all 27 games he played in with the Pistons during his 2014-15 campaign, averaging 17.6 points and 9.2 assists on 43.6 percent shooting with a PER of 19.8.
It remains to be seen whether the Pistons will look to move Jennings, who's owed $8.3 million on the final year of his contract.
