Cavaliers' Williams will not play Sunday vs. 76ers with thumb sprain
As one Cleveland Cavaliers point guard returns to action, another will continue to miss time as he recovers from a right thumb sprain.
Veteran Mo Williams will sit his second consecutive game on Sunday when the Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the 1-27 Philadelphia 76ers, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Chris Haynes.
Kyrie Irving is set to return to the lineup for the first time this season following surgery to repair a fractured left kneecap. Even if Williams were healthy, it's conceivable that the three-time All-Star's recovery would eventually cut into his minutes, if not bumping him out of the rotation entirely.
Williams has performed admirably in Irving's absence, averaging 13 points and 4.1 assists in 27.6 minutes for the 17-7 Cavaliers.
