Analysis:
This move was a simple salary dump by the Bulls, as getting rid of Hinrich's expiring deal will shave $2.9 million off of their payout and leave them $1.6 million over the luxury tax. Hinrich, who is set to embark on his second stint with the Hawks, averaged 3.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.8 steals over 16 minutes through 35 games with the Bulls this season. With Jeff Teague and Dennis Schroder set to take most of the minutes at point guard, it's likely that Hinrich will see only limited action as the third stringer.
