Watch: Iowa's McCaffery verbally attacks a ref ... again
Anyone who watches Iowa regularly knows that head coach Fran McCaffery is prone to an embarrassing meltdown from time to time, so what happened Thursday should come as no surprise.
At the conclusion of the Hawkeyes' eight-point home loss to Maryland, the 57-year-old coach stalked one of the officials the length of the court, cussing multiple times in the referee's face before almost missing the handshake line.
Despite the fact Iowa had the more favorable whistle all night - committing five less fouls than the Terrapins - McCaffery felt his team didn't get a crucial call in the game's final minutes.
As a serial offender when it comes to absurd outbursts during a game, let's take a look at a few of McCaffery's more dramatic moments.
Whether it be an ejection against Wisconsin in 2014:
A chair-slamming meltdown during a timeout versus Michigan State in 2012:
Or walking off the court in protest of a late North Dakota steal attempt in an 11-point win earlier this season:
These tantrums probably aren't what administrators are looking for from a coach who is paid $2 million per season.
