Arizona's Trier will play vs. UCLA after 19-game absence
Arizona faces a tough task Saturday with a difficult road game at No. 3 UCLA, but will have star guard Allonzo Trier at its disposal for the first time this season, a university spokesperson confirmed to Greg Hansen of the Arizona Daily Star.
Trier, who averaged 14.8 points last season as a freshman, has missed all 19 games this season due to a suspension stemming from performance enhancing drugs.
"The NCAA notified us on Friday afternoon that Allonzo Trier's most recent drug test was negative," the spokesperson said in a statement. "Therefore, he is eligible to return to the court immediately and will be available for our game against UCLA."
Despite not having Trier in the lineup this season, Arizona has reeled off 11 straight wins on its way to a 17-2 record and the No. 14 ranking in the latest AP Poll.
The Wildcats, who average 75.1 points per game this season, will need all the help they can get to keep up with the nation's No. 2 scoring offense, as UCLA pours in 93.3 points per contest. Trier will no doubt be rusty in his first game action this year, but can certainly give a boost to the Arizona offense on Saturday in Los Angeles.
