Creighton's Watson Jr. 'dodging' law enforcement following arrest warrant
Maurice Watson Jr. remains at-large after the Omaha Police issued a felony arrest warrant for the Creighton star earlier in the week for first-degree sexual assault.
"The US Marshals Service and the Omaha Police Fugitive Unit continue to look for Mr. Watson," the Omaha Police said in a statement obtained by Jon Nyatawa of the Omaha World-Herald. "At this point in time, Mr. Watson is dodging law enforcement efforts to arrest him. Until he is located and arrested by law enforcement, or turns himself in, the entire Douglas County Court system is operating off of Mr. Watson's time frame."
Watson, who is out for the season after tearing his ACL, is being investigated for an alleged sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman that took place Feb. 4th.
The school suspended the star point guard from all athletic-related activities earlier in the week for violating school policies. It became clear just days later that the warrant was the reason for the disciplinary move.
At the time of his injury, Watson was leading the NCAA in assists per game.
