South Carolina changes spring game kickoff time due to Final Four
With South Carolina entering the season as a 200/1 underdog to win the NCAA championship, the football program likely didn't take into account the Final Four dates when scheduling its spring game.
Now that the Gamecocks have made a shocking run to the national semifinals, Will Muschamp's program announced Monday they will move the spring game kickoff from 2:00 p.m. ET to noon ET to accommodate the 6:09 p.m. ET basketball game in Phoenix.
It turns out the move isn't just for the fans, but also for the football players.
"We watch every game," quarterback Jake Bentley told JC Shurburtt of 247 Sports. "There's a group of guys and we all get together and watch the games. It's awesome just to see how hard they play and all the support that has been rallied around them from the school."
Regardless of the outcome of Saturday's contest, it's a pretty great day for South Carolina fans, as the promising young football teams gets to show their potential in the spring game followed by the basketball team's first Final Four appearance.
