Rose believes Michigan's hiring of Howard 'squashes any drama' with Webber

Former Michigan stars Jalen Rose and Chris Webber have grown apart over the years since starring for the Wolverines in the early '90s.

But after the school's recent hiring of fellow "Fab Five" teammate Juwan Howard as head coach, Rose is optimistic they'll finally be able to settle their differences and move forward.

"It squashes any drama or any beef because we're not going to bring that to Ann Arbor's campus with Juwan Howard as our head coach," Rose said Thursday on ESPN's "Get Up."

Rose explained that he doesn't want to be a distraction for Howard and believes Webber shares the same sentiment.

"The one thing that we both know is (Howard's) success - turning around the University of Michigan - is first and foremost about him and about the players that he's going to influence," Rose said.

"Then, it's about us being there to support him. Not being drama. Not being splintered. Not giving any indication of dysfunction. We're gonna move as a family."

The trio, along with Jimmy King and Ray Jackson, formed one of college basketball's greatest recruiting classes of all time. They played two seasons together and reached back-to-back national championship games in 1992 and 1993.

Michigan finished 30-7 this past season and fell to Texas Tech in the Sweet 16.
