Caleb Love becomes latest 5-star recruit to join UNC

North Carolina continues to build on its impressive 2020 class with the addition of five-star recruit Caleb Love.

The 6-foot-3 guard announced his commitment to the Tar Heels at his high school on Tuesday.

"I’m headed to North Carolina and the reason I picked them was when I went on my visit, it felt like a family culture, from start to finish, from when I got there to when I left," Love told 247Sports' Evan Daniels. "I just felt like it was home."

Love is the 24th-ranked prospect on the ESPN 100 for 2020 and North Carolina's third five-star recruit for next season after landing big men Walker Kessler and Day'Ron Sharpe.

The Tar Heels are also in the running for consensus top-five recruits Cade Cunningham and Ziaire Williams.

With North Carolina floor general Cole Anthony a likely one-and-done candidate, Love could immediately slide in as his successor in 2020.

Love is a scoring-first guard but has shown an ability to create for others. He averaged 15.8 points, five assists, and 4.5 rebounds per contest this past summer on the Nike EYBL circuit.

"Just seeing how guards like me have had success there was something that really sold me," Love wrote on a blog for USA Today Sports. "I watched Coby (White) all the time in high school and I watched him in coach (Roy) Williams' system last year, and I knew that I could be successful there."

Missouri was the other finalist in the mix for his services.
