Gonzaga's Few canceling all team activities on Election Day

Gonzaga head coach Mark Few announced he will cancel all team activities on Nov. 3 to help promote the significance of the U.S. federal Election Day to his players.

Georgia Tech assistant Eric Reveno pitched the idea to the longtime Bulldogs bench boss after tweeting Wednesday about the need to "empower, educate and guide" student-athletes to be part of the change.

"I think it's a great idea," Few told ESPN's Myron Medcalf. "It's just a step. One of many that needs to happen."

Few's decision comes just over a week after George Floyd was killed in police custody. On Monday, the 57-year-old joined many of his peers in speaking out against racial injustice.

"Like many of you, I am sickened and appalled of what happened to George Floyd and unfortunately too many others over the years," Few said in a statement. "There's been a long history of racial injustice that is sadly still a part of our current reality."
