Green Bay hires Bo Ryan's son Will as HC
Green Bay announced the hiring of Will Ryan as head coach on Sunday.
The 41-year-old is the son of legendary Wisconsin bench boss and college basketball Hall of Famer Bo Ryan.
"I am beyond excited to be the next head coach of the Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball program," Ryan said in a statement. "It's an honor and a privilege to come back to my home state of Wisconsin and join a great university.
"I look forward to building a program with a group of hard-working student-athletes who are proud to represent Green Bay."
From 2007 to 2014, Ryan served as an assistant coach at North Dakota State. He spent another five years in the same role at Ohio immediately after.
Ryan posted a 14-13 record as head coach for Division II Wheeling last season.
Green Bay is a coming off a 17-16 campaign, which included an 11-7 mark in Horizon League play. In May, the Phoenix dismissed former head coach Linc Darner.
