Gonzaga lands Florida transfer Nembhard

Ex-Florida guard Andrew Nembhard has committed to Gonzaga, he told Corey Evans of Rivals.com.

The Canadian is ESPN's second-ranked sit-out transfer and will be eligible for play in 2021-22.

Gonzaga beat out the likes of Duke, Memphis, and USC for the talented floor general's services.

Nembhard joins a long list of Canadians that have previously suited up for Bulldogs head coach Mark Few.

"They checked every box for me. I loved the idea of being able to sit out next year and fall in line with those that transferred into the program in the past," Nembhard told Evans. "The Canadian pipeline was big, too. I talked to a lot of people that went there and it made it a lot easier to make that decision.

"Just knowing how Kyle (Wiltjer) and Kevin (Pangos) are as people and what they told me about the place, it gave me reassurance about the place and the people over there."

The 6-foot-5 sophomore withdrew from the NBA draft and reportedly announced his intention to transfer in late May. Nembhard averaged 11.2 points and 5.6 assists across 31 appearances last season. He also led the SEC with a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Nembhard should slide into the starting point guard role in 2021-22 as incoming five-star recruit Jalen Suggs is expected to be a one-and-done player.
