The legendary Tar Heels head coach trails only Duke's Mike Krzyzewski and Syracuse's Jim Boeheim on the all-time list.
Williams has spent the last 18 years at Chapel Hill after a 15-year stint as Kansas' bench boss. He's made nine Final Four appearances over his Hall of Fame career, including a trio of national championships while in charge at North Carolina.
The Tar Heels will face second-seeded Florida State in the ACC Tournament semifinals.
