South Carolina parts ways with Frank Martin
South Carolina parted ways with head coach Frank Martin on Monday, he told Stadium's Jeff Goodman.
Martin spent the last decade with the Gamecocks and guided the program to its only Final Four appearance in 2017. It was the only time the school reached the Big Dance during his tenure.
The 55-year-old finishes his run in South Carolina with a 171-147 overall mark.
"After a thorough evaluation of our men's basketball program, we have decided to make a change," director of athletics Ray Tanner said in a statement. "We are grateful for the dedication that coach Martin has made to Gamecock basketball. We wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future."
South Carolina registered an 18-13 record this past season, including a 9-9 mark in SEC play.
Martin is the latest bench boss in the conference to be dismissed following the season. Tom Crean and Cuonzo Martin were recently relieved of their head coaching duties.
