Kentucky star Tshiebwe headlines Hall of Fame's major award winners

Recently named AP men's college player of the year Oscar Tshiebwe added another trophy to his cabinet Saturday.

The Kentucky big man headlined the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's honorees for the country's top college hoops players for their respective positions. Tshiebwe won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award as the best center in Division I basketball.

The junior averaged 17.4 points, 1.8 steals, and 1.6 blocks over 34 appearances this season. He led all players in rebounding (15.2 per contest) and trailed only Armando Bacot in double-doubles (28).

Iowa star Keegan Murray captured the Karl Malone Award as the nation's best power forward. The sophomore was fourth in the NCAA in scoring (23.5) and third in the Big Ten in rebounding (8.7). He recently declared for the NBA draft and is a projected top-10 pick.

Villanova super senior Collin Gillespie won the Bob Cousy Award ahead of the Wildcats' Final Four showdown against Kansas. The honor recognizes the top point guard in college basketball. Gillespie averaged 15.6 points, 3.9 boards, and 3.3 assists over 37 appearances this season. He was named Big East Tournament MVP after leading Villanova to the title at Madison Square Garden.

Wisconsin standout Johnny Davis took home the Jerry West Award as the NCAA's best shooting guard. The 20-year-old had a breakout sophomore year, averaging 19.7 points, 8.2 boards, 2.1 assists, and 1.2 steals en route to an All-Big Ten first-team selection. He's the first player in school history to receive the honor.

Duke junior Wendell Moore was the recipient of the Julius Erving Award, which is given annually to the best small forward. The former five-star prospect has been a key part of the Blue Devils' Final Four run, registering 13.5 points, 5.2 boards, 4.4 assists, and 1.4 steals across 38 appearances during the 2021-22 campaign.
