5-star 2022 recruit GG Jackson reclassifies, spurns UNC for South Carolina

Five-star prospect GG Jackson announced Saturday that he is reclassifying into the class of 2022 and committed to South Carolina.

Jackson decommitted from North Carolina earlier in July.

He was the No. 3 power forward and No. 6 overall prospect on the ESPN 100 for 2023.

Despite losing Jackson, North Carolina is still set up to contend this season. Starters Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, R.J. Davis, and Leaky Black all returned for another year, while Northwestern transfer Pete Nance should slide into Brady Manek's stretch-four role.

Meanwhile, South Carolina hasn't made the NCAA Tournament since reaching its first and only Final Four in 2017. The Gamecocks hired Lamont Paris as their new head coach after dismissing longtime bench boss Frank Martin.
