Ole Miss mutually parts ways with Kermit Davis after 5 seasons
Ole Miss and head coach Kermit Davis mutually parted ways after five seasons, vice chancellor for intercollegiate athletics Keith Carter announced Friday.
Assistant coach Win Case will take over on an interim basis for the remainder of the campaign.
"We thank coach Davis for his dedication to the Ole Miss basketball program and our student-athletes," Carter said in a statement. "No one wanted to bring a title home to Mississippi more than him, and we appreciate the passion for that goal that he shared with our team every day."
Davis took the Rebels job after a successful 16-year run at Middle Tennessee. He guided Ole Miss to the NCAA Tournament and an AP-high ranking of 18 during his debut campaign, but the program hasn't been back to the Big Dance since.
The Rebels are 2-13 in SEC play and 10-18 overall this season.
Davis ends his tenure with a 74-79 overall mark. He was the SEC's Coach of the Year in 2019.
