Duke five-star commit Mackenzie Mgbako has requested a release from his letter of intent to the Blue Devils, he announced on social media Tuesday.

His decision comes shortly after big man Kyle Filipowski announced he was returning to Durham for another season.

Mgbako was the second-ranked power forward and No. 8 overall prospect on the ESPN 100 for 2023.

Kentucky, Memphis, and Ohio State were among the schools originally in the mix for the McDonald's All-American.

Mgbako recently had a strong showing at the Nike Hoop Summit, leading all players with 22 points and registering eight rebounds.

Mgbako's biggest strength is his ability to shoot the ball from beyond the arc. He's also capable of putting the rock on the floor and taking it to the rack.
