Kansas star Dickinson returning for 5th year

Kansas star Hunter Dickinson is returning for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign, the school announced Friday on social media.

The 7-foot-1 center had one more year of college eligibility remaining.

Jayhawks head coach Bill Self hinted at a decision earlier Friday.

Dickinson made waves last year when he transferred to Kansas following three seasons at Michigan.

In his first year at Lawrence, the former Wolverine averaged 17.9 points, 10.9 boards, 2.3 assists, and 1.4 blocks over 33 appearances. Dickinson also earned All-American second-team honors and a spot on the All-Big 12 first team.

Kansas went 23-11 overall last season, including a 10-8 mark in conference play. The Jayhawks were eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Tournament by Gonzaga.

Self's squad is losing Kevin McCullar Jr. to the NBA and potentially Johnny Furphy as well. However, Kansas has reloaded in the transfer portal, picking up Rylan Griffen from Alabama and AJ Storr from Wisconsin.
