McNeese State's Wade: Villanova's trying to buy out a coach in NCAA tourney
McNeese State head coach Will Wade is reportedly set to take over at NC State following the NCAA Tournament, but he's apparently not the only head coach in the Big Dance who could be on the move.
"Villanova's trying to buy a coach out of the NCAA Tournament right now!" Wade told reporters, including CBS Sports' Matt Norlander, following the Cowboys' first-round win over Clemson on Thursday.
Wade didn't reveal who the Wildcats were looking to poach.
UCLA's Mick Cronin, VCU's Ryan Odom, and New Mexico's Richard Pitino have all been linked to the Villanova job, sources told NJ.com's Adam Zagoria.
The Bruins' lead man is a "dark horse" contender, along with Northwestern's Chris Collins, Zagoria added.
Villanova fired Kyle Neptune last Saturday after the school missed its third straight NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats went 54-47 under Jay Wright's successor.
