Clayton, Flagg nab regional MOP honors
Experience ruled the day in the West Region, while youth was served in the East, with the Most Outstanding Players announced after the Elite Eight games Saturday.
Florida's senior guard Walter Clayton Jr. earned the nod as top player in the West, and Duke's star freshman Cooper Flagg took home the award in the East.
Clayton was at his best for the Gators in the clutch Saturday, nailing back-to-back triples in the game's final two minutes to deliver a comeback victory Texas Tech. The Iona transfer has averaged 22.5 points per game through the tournament and has connected on 45% of his 3-pointers.
Flagg has poured in 19.5 points per game in the tournament while stuffing the stat sheet overall. The 18-year-old phenom has pulled down 7.7 rebounds per contest, registered 5.2 assists, and supplied seven total blocks.
