Providence secures commitment from G League star Dink Pate
Providence has landed a commitment from Westchester Knicks guard Dink Pate, his agent Sam Permut told ESPN's Jeff Borzello.
Pate turned down two-way and 10-day contracts while in the G League to maintain his college eligibility, Borzello adds.
He was a five-star recruit in the class of 2023 before joining the G League Ignite to become the youngest known professional basketball player in U.S. history. He also played with the Mexico City Capitanes.
The 20-year-old entered the 2025 NBA Draft, but went undrafted. He signed with the New York Knicks, ultimately joining the team's G League affiliate in Westchester. Pate represented the G League in the Rising Stars game at the 2025 NBA All-Star Game.
Pate also had a Zoom call with Kentucky head coach Mark Pope, according to KSR's Jack Pilgrim.
Pate's recruitment marks the second big addition of the day for Bryan Hodgson and the Friars after San Diego State star Miles Byrd committed to Providence earlier Thursday.
Hodgson was named Kim English's successor at Providence in March after guiding South Florida to a 25-9 record in his one season with the Bulls.
