VIDEO: R.J. Hunter hits insanely deep 3 for the win, dad falls out of chair
There are threes. There are long threes. There are Steph Curry threes. There are fours. And then there's what R.J. Hunter hit on Thursday.
Trailing 56-54 with just seconds to play, there was little question who was getting the ball for Georgia State. Hunter, the team's best player and leading scorer, brought the ball up the court, did a give-and-go handoff to create space and then ... WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Hunter fired from incredibly deep, knocking down one of the most ridiculous – and clutch – threes ever.
Watch that again. And look closely at Hunter's father, head coach Ron Hunter, who was sitting in a chair because he tore his Achilles celebrating the team's Sun Belt championship. He fell out of his damn chair. Have a closer look:
And again, in slow motion:
He's alright, don't worry. Look at that smile.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," Ron Hunter said after the game, still rubbing his forehead in disbelief.
After a cold start, R.J. Hunter scored 12 of the team's final 13 points to finish with 16 on the game. Three of them were the biggest of his life, as Baylor couldn't convert on their ensuing possession. That means Hunter's triple was the deciding, game-winning bucket, giving the Panthers the unlikeliest of 57-56 victories.
Another 14, another three-seed. What a day.
