Still perfect: Kentucky becomes 1st team to go 36-0, advances to Sweet Sixteen
Kentucky made some history Saturday, becoming the first D-I team in NCAA history to start a season 36-0 following a 64-51 victory over Cincinnati.
The win moved the Wildcats into the Sweet Sixteen for the fifth time in the last six years. Dream were crushed.
As usual, Kentucky featured a balanced attack with Aaron Harrison's 13 points leading the way. Trey Lyles added his second career double-double with 11 points to go with 11 rebounds. Willie Cauley-Stein also provided the play of the tournament so far with this incredible dunk over Quadri Moore:
It's the sixth straight double-digit victory for a Kentucky squad looking to become the first undefeated team since Indiana in 1976.
Cincinnati put up a good fight and actually led 24-21 with 3:43 remaining in the first half. However, the Wildcats ended the half on a 10-0 run and were able to maintain the lead throughout the entire second half.
Troy Caupain led the way for the Bearcats with 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and a couple of incredible plays. Octavius Ellis added nine points and 10 rebounds, though he was forced to leave the game for the final three and a half minutes of the first half after hurting his back.
Ellis returned for the start of the second half, but it shouldn't come as a surprise that Kentucky went on its run with him in the locker room.
Next up on the Wildcats run for perfection is a date with the winner of Saturday's game between West Virginia and Maryland.
