Saint Mary's pulled off a massive home win Thursday against Gonzaga, but it was almost for naught thanks to a shocking gaffe from guard Joe Rahon.

With 3.7 seconds left and the Gaels clinging to a one-point lead, Rahon hacked Bulldogs guard Eric McClellan thinking Saint Mary's had a foul to give, when they did not. Fortunately for Rahon, McClellan missed the front end of his one-and-one opportunity at the line, and the Gaels were able to escape with a 70-67 victory.

So what led the junior standout to commit the late foul?

"I had a brain fart," Rahon admitted to ESPN after the game. "I didn't look up to see how many fouls were on the board. When I foul him, I think it's a good play, and then everyone's yelling at me. I was like, 'Oh gosh, what did I do?' He ended up missing the free throw thankfully. Saved my butt on that one."

The win snapped an eight-game losing streak for Saint Mary's against Gonzaga, and also kept the Gaels one game ahead of both the Bulldogs and BYU in the West Coast Conference standings.
