Michael Phelps reportedly joining Arizona State's 'Curtain of Distraction'

Bob Stanton-USA TODAY Sports

Arizona State's hilarious "Curtain of Distraction" in the student section will have an Olympic feel to it Thursday against Oregon State as swimming legend Michael Phelps is joining the party.

The 18-time gold medalist is in Tempe, Ariz., training for the upcoming Rio Olympics, and according to the student section, known as the 942 crew, he will be joining them versus the Beavers.

Phelps attended Michigan, but with his long-time coach Bob Bowman in his first season with the Sun Devils, his allegiances have shifted to the desert. The Baltimore native is such a fan of the Arizona State atmosphere that he intends to become an assistant coach with the program following the Olympics.

For those unfamiliar with the "Curtain of Distraction," it's a costumed presentation by the student section during opposition foul shots.

Here's hoping Phelps' participation has a swimming-related theme to it.
