PHOTOS: Must-see images from Villanova's incredible victory
Monday night's championship game between Villanova and North Carolina provided one of the best finishes in college basketball history, with the Wildcats walking away with a buzzer-beater victory and the national title.
Such an amazing night provided plenty of noteworthy moments, and here's a look through the night's action with some incredible images.
Tar Heels fans were ready to celebrate a sixth national championship.
Over 50 former North Carolina players were in attendance, including Michael Jordan, a somewhat famous basketball player who led the Tar Heels to the 1982 title.
Everything started well for North Carolina, as Brice Johnson's gorgeous alley-oop brought fans out of their seats early.
Joel Berry II had a huge half with 15 points and UNC took a five-point lead into the break.
The game proved to be a physical contest, as the teams combined for 36 personal fouls. Here's Kennedy Meeks getting a little too aggressive:
The second-half pendulum swung towards Villanova and the Wildcats looked to pull away.
With under five minutes to go, Villanova led by 10 and could feel the national title within its grasp.
The Tar Heels, though, weren't ready to give it away and Marcus Paige's unbelievable 3-pointer would tie the game at 74 with just seconds left.
That was more than enough time for Kris Jenkins, however, as he beat the buzzer and drilled a game-winning three of his own as time expired.
When you've just hit the biggest shot of your life, you take a little time to celebrate.
Jenkins wasn't alone for long before he was mobbed by the rest of his team after the clutch basket.
It feels good to be the man of the hour.
Jay Wright captured his first national championship and celebrated it with Rollie Massimino, the only other coach to lead Villanova to the title.
Jubilation for the Wildcats meant heartbreak for the Tar Heels and senior Johnson.
Perhaps no one took the loss harder than North Carolina assistant coach Hubert Davis.
Ryan Arcidiacono was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player and took his chance to cut down the net.
As did Wright, who finally showed a smile even after remaining stoic throughout the spectacular finish.
Villanova, national champions for the second time.
