Ohio State spring game halftime events to feature former Buckeyes

Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State is hoping to draw more than 100,000 fans for its spring game this Saturday, and it's calling on some former players to assist in the effort.

While the spring scrimmage is the main draw, several former Buckeyes will participate in other events at halftime.

Returning quarterback J.T. Barrett and former pivot Cardale Jones will each be paired with a student and compete in a skills challenge as the headline event.

A fastest student competition will also take place, with participants coached by either Vonn Bell, Eli Apple, Darron Lee, Jalin Marshall, Tyvis Powell, or Ezekiel Elliott.

The event with perhaps the most potential for laughs is the "Catch a Punt" challenge between the offensive and defensive line. That contest will involve Anthony Schlegel, Kirk Barton, Jimmy Cordle, Bobby Carpenter, and Jack Mewhort, among others.

The Buckeyes drew 99,391 to last year's spring game, setting the national record, and the school has already sold over 69,000 tickets to this year's event.
