Oklahoma Supreme Court rules Mixon video is public record
The Oklahoma Supreme Court has reversed an earlier ruling, and has declared the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters has the right to sue for the video of Sooners' Joe Mixon punching a female student from 2014.
The vote passed 7-2, but as News9.com notes, that doesn't mean the tape will be released immediately, as the association must return to the original trial in Norman in an attempt to procure the footage.
The Cleveland County Court declared the video remain sealed from public record in February, arguing that the video didn't need to be released because Mixon had not been arrested.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Mixon was one of the top recruits in the 2014 class and was suspended for the entire 2014 season due to the incident. He also received a one-year deferred sentence and 100 hours of community service.
After sitting out that season, Mixon returned in 2015 and was a key contributor, rushing for 753 yards and seven touchdowns as the Sooners won the Big 12 title.
