Harbaugh on Michigan State, explanation behind new glasses
Jim Harbaugh's Michigan has gone unscathed through seven games this season, a record that's led to a No. 2 ranking in the AP poll.
The Wolverines now prepare for rivals Michigan State, a game that always brings out the best in both programs.
"This is a big game for us, a championship-type of ball game. Our preparations will need to at their best," Harbaugh said Monday at his weekly press conference, according to Larry Lage from the Associated Press.
While Michigan is rolling, the Spartans have been struggling since beating Notre Dame, dropping their last five contests. For Harbaugh, though, what's occurred in the season previously is irrelevant.
"It doesn't matter what's happened before this week for us or for an opponent, it never does. It matters what happens on the game day. So we know the tack in front of us, we know the challenge and it's up to us to get prepared to play that game," said Harbaugh.
When asked where he thinks his team is, Harbaugh said he knows nothing has been accomplished yet.
"It's not time to take a victory lap," according to Angelique Chengelis of the Detroit News.
Although there were the typical football-related questions Monday, the 52-year-old explained his new glasses and the influences behind the design.
“It’s a tip of the hat, a nod to Woody Hayes, to Michael Douglas in the movie 'Falling Down,' and also a tip of the cap to Malcolm X,” said Harbaugh. “In honor of those three men.”
