San Jose State names Oregon State's Brent Brennan as HC
San Jose State has hired Oregon State assistant coach Brent Brennan as the Spartans' new head coach, the school announced.
Brennan, who also coached receivers at Oregon State, coached at San Jose State from 2005-10, holding titles of offensive coordinator, receivers and tight ends coach and special teams coordinator.
“We want to recruit high-character young men that are tough and love to play football and also take their academics seriously," Brennan said. "We’re going to help them grow from young men into men and put a product on the field that anybody who has a connection with Spartan football can be proud of."
Noted for his recruiting skills, Brennan coached 2013 Biletnikoff Award winner Brandin Cooks at Oregon State, along with Markus Wheaton and James Rodgers.
During his five years at San Jose State, Brennan coached NFL receiver James Jones.
The Spartans fired head coach Ron Caragher on Nov. 27, after four seasons and a 19-30 overall record, including a win in the 2015 Cure Bowl.
