Saban: Transferring quarterbacks will be with Alabama through CFP
Matthew Emmons / USA TODAY Sports
Panic swept across Alabama's fan base this week after it was revealed that both backup quarterbacks - Cooper Bateman and David Cornwell - would be transferring out of the program after this season.
While Jalen Hurts is firmly entrenched as the starter after a dazzling freshman campaign, an injury to the standout pivot would have forced a non-scholarship quarterback into action as his replacement.
The potential crisis has been averted, however, as coach Nick Saban confirmed to Dan Wolken of USA Today that both quarterbacks will remain with the team through the CFP.
Alabama, currently listed as a 16-point favorite, faces Washington in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Eve.
