One player in particular for Southern Miss put forth a staggering performance during the first half of Saturday's New Orleans Bowl.

Golden Eagles wide receiver Allenzae Staggers scorched the Louisiana-Lafayette defense through one half of play, hauling in seven passes for a remarkable 202 yards. Staggers broke the New Orleans Bowl record for receiving yards in the process, surpassing the former high of 193 set by Louisiana-Lafayette's Javonne Lawson in 2011.

Staggers caught a 55-yard pass from quarterback Nick Mullens that set up the first touchdown of the game for the Golden Eagles, then hauled in a 66-yard reception on the very next drive to set up a second touchdown.

Staggers also set a team record for most receiving yards by a first-year player in Southern Miss history, according to Jason Munz of the Hattiesburg American.

The Golden Eagles entered the half tied 14-14 with the Ragin' Cajuns.
