Clemson's Boulware would 'literally die' with 8-team playoff
The College Football Playoff semifinals always spark a debate as to whether the field should expand from four teams to eight, but you can count Clemson's Ben Boulware among those against expansion.
"God no, I'd literally die," Boulware responded to Dan Wolken of USA Today when asked if he'd like to see an eight-team playoff.
The Tigers meet Alabama in the national championship game for the second straight year, meaning both schools will have played 15 games in each of the last two seasons.
That seems to be plenty for Boulware, although he'll likely have to play more than 15 next year, as the standout linebacker is headed to the NFL and its 16-game schedules.
Boulware also delivered a hilarious quote when asked about tackling bruising Crimson Tide running back Bo Scarbrough in Monday's title game.
"I wish I could say what I want to say," Boulware said as per Grace Raynor of the Post and Courier. "Just don't be a little B-word."
For his finale at the press conference, Boulware delivered an impassioned defense of Christian Wilkins, after the star defensive lineman came under fire for grabbing Ohio State's Curtis Samuel in his groin area during the Fiesta Bowl.
