Western Michigan hires Tim Lester as head coach
Western Michigan has found P.J. Fleck's replacement, as the school announced Friday that former Purdue quarterbacks coach Tim Lester is the program's new head coach.
It's a return to the Broncos program for Lester, who served as quarterback for the school during the early 1990s, setting 17 school records during his career. He was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2011.
Lester spent one year on the Boilermakers' staff after serving in various capacities with Syracuse prior to that. He has collegiate head coaching experience at lower levels, having been the frontman for Saint Joseph's at the Division II level and Elmhurst at the Division III level.
With less than a month to go before National Signing Day on Feb. 1, Lester faces a difficult task in firming up a recruiting class that was decimated with six commits following Fleck to his new job at Minnesota.
