Tiger-Cats hire former Baylor coach Art Briles as offensive assistant
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Monday that they have hired former Baylor head coach Art Briles as the team's offensive assistant head coach.
June Jones decided on bringing in the veteran coach just days after being named as frontman by the organization.
The 61-year-old enjoyed an incredibly successful eight-year run on the field with the Bears, winning back-to-back Big 12 titles in 2013-14. His tenure with the school would be marred, however, with a sexual assault scandal that rocked the institution and led to his ouster in 2016.
Briles is known as an offensive mastermind that created one of college football's most dominant units during his stops at Houston and Baylor. He faces a massive task in turning around the fortunes of the Tiger-Cats, as the winless team ranks last in the CFL in total points scored, passing yards, and rushing yards.
