Auburn's Pettway to miss 'extended period' with shoulder injury
Auburn will be without its second-leading rusher Kamryn Pettway this weekend against Texas A&M, and perhaps for the rest of the season, due to a shoulder injury.
"Kam Pettway suffered a fracture in his scapula," head coach Gus Malzahn said Tuesday, according to James Crepea of AL.com. "We did not know that until last Friday ... He'll be out an extended period of time."
The bruising rusher's absence is a big loss for the Tigers' potent rushing attack, as Pettway has 305 yards and six touchdowns this season. His injury means both Kerryon Johnson and Kam Martin will see increased roles in the Auburn offense.
Malzahn added that Pettway doesn't need surgery. The Tigers will certainly hope he can return at some point this season, as they host No. 2 Georgia and No. 1 Alabama in November.
