Kiffin: Tennessee AD said he isn't interested in reunion
Lane Kiffin revealed Thursday that Tennessee told his agent the school has no interest in bringing him back to Knoxville for a second stint as the Volunteers' head coach.
"When that job came up, Jimmy Sexton, my agent - like they always do in these searches - they reach out and they say, 'OK, here's the five, six guys that I have,' and then the athletic director chooses who he wants to interview," Kiffin explained on ESPN's Outside The Lines. "John Currie said he wasn't interested. That was a couple weeks ago."
Kiffin, who turned in a 9-3 regular season in his first campaign at Florida Atlantic this year, previously coached the Vols for a season, posting a 7-6 record in 2009 before bolting for USC.
It's unclear whether Tennessee would consider changing its stance, as the university has gone through, and been rejected by, numerous candidates since denying Kiffin's candidacy for the job.
