Ed Oliver became the first defensive player since 2013 to win the Outland Trophy when the star defensive tackle from Houston captured the award for best interior lineman Thursday night.
The star sophomore was a menace all season for the Cougars, registering 5.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss in his second campaign with the program.
Oliver claimed the honor over offensive linemen Orlando Brown from Oklahoma and Notre Dame's Quenton Nelson.
