DJ Uiagalelei, the nation's top-ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2020 class, has committed to Clemson.
The 6-foot-5, 243-pound pocket passer chose the defending national champions over Oregon.
Uiagalelei is the second-highest ranked quarterback on the ESPN 300, behind No. 1 dual-threat option Haynes King. However, he is Rivals' top overall recruit for the 2020 class.
Uiagalelei slots in as the heir apparent to Trevor Lawrence, the Tigers' national title-winning quarterback.
Oregon was thought to have a chance at Uiagalelei as the Ducks could offer the chance for the rocket-armed passer to start right away. The program also has a history recruiting Polynesian quarterbacks, including Marcus Mariota and Jeremiah Masoli.
The quarterback from St. John Bosco High School joins fellow top-rated recruits in defensive tackle Bryan Bresee, offensive tackle Mitchell Mayes, and running back DeMarkcus Bowman in Clemson's 2020 class.
