The Big 12 canceled its in-person football media days, and the event will instead take place virtually due to the pandemic, according to Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News.

"Given the uncertainty around the current environment and how much longer it’s going to last and with attendees having to make travel plans, it didn’t seem prudent for a traditional media day with a mass person gathering," Big 12 spokesman Bob Burda said in a statement, according to Carlton.

The Big 12's football media days were scheduled for July 20-21 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Multiple conferences from the Group of 5 have announced their football media days will be held virtually (MWC, MAC, AAC, and Conference USA). The Big 12 is the first Power 5 conference to reportedly make the change.

The NCAA hasn't spoken recently about its 2020 football calendar, but the organization has discussed contingency plans. The proposals reportedly include holding the College Football Playoff in May or June, dividing up the regular season between the fall and spring semesters, reducing games, or allowing student-athletes back on campus to play in empty stadiums.
