Taulia Tagovailoa transferring to Maryland
Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa announced Friday he's transferring to Maryland.
Taulia, the younger brother of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, joined Alabama in 2019 as a freshman. The right-handed signal-caller, who entered the transfer portal last week, attempted just 12 passes while serving behind Tua and Mac Jones last season.
Taulia will now join head coach Mike Locksley, who spent three seasons with Alabama's coaching staff from 2016-18 and was the team's offensive coordinator in his last year.
The Terrapins finished 3-9 last season, recording their fifth straight losing campaign. Josh Jackson, who struggled through 10 starts in 2019, and sophomore Lance LeGendre are Maryland's current quarterback options.
Alabama is set to have Jones under center for 2020 and will also have the No. 1 recruit of the 2020 class, Bryce Young, on the roster.
