5 mind-blowing stats from Alabama's shootout win vs. Ole Miss

A shootout erupted Saturday between Alabama and Ole Miss, with Nick Saban's outfit holding on for a thrilling 63-48 victory thanks largely to standout running back Najee Harris' five touchdowns.

The matchup with new Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin was yet another time Saban faced one of his former assistants, and the legendary Saban remains undefeated. Kiffin, though, had more success versus his former boss than any previous assistant.

Here are five unbelievable stats from the classic showdown:

A combined 111 points set a new SEC record for non-overtime games. Only three games between SEC opponents had more points than Saturday's shootout - and they each were extended to seven overtimes.

21-0

The master remains perfect against his pupils: Saban improved to 21-0 all time versus his former assistant coaches with Saturday's win. While Kiffin fell short in his first game versus Saban since he left Alabama, Ole Miss' 48 points represent the first time a former assistant scored more than 35 on the Crimson Tide.

48

It's uncommon for a team to allow 48 points and still earn a win - even Alabama. The 48 points conceded to the Rebels are the most allowed by the Crimson Tide in a win. Additionally, the total marks the second-most points ever allowed by a victorious AP top-two team, as Oregon allowed 51 to USC in 2012 when the Trojans were coached by ... Kiffin.

1,370

Alabama (723) and Ole Miss (647) combined for 1,370 yards Saturday, the most between SEC teams in conference history. Harris led all players in rushing with a whopping 206 yards on the ground, while Kenny Yeboah, DeVonta Smith, Elijah Moore, and Jaylen Waddle all had 100-plus yard receiving games.

400-300

Alabama became the first team since Oklahoma in 2016 (vs. Texas) to pass for at least 400 yards and rush for 300-plus yards against a Power 5 opponent. The Crimson Tide finished Saturday's showdown with 417 passing yards and 306 yards on the ground.
