Washington will face USC in the Pac-12 championship game on Friday, Dec. 18 at 8 p.m. ET, the conference announced Saturday.

"In a football season that has thrown unprecedented challenges and adversity at our football teams and student-athletes, USC and Washington have performed at the highest levels and earned their places in the 2020 Pac-12 Football Championship Game as the Pac-12 South and North Champions," Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement.

The announcement happened during USC's game against UCLA. The Trojans entered their regular-season final matchup unbeaten after four weeks and ranked first in the Pac-12 South.

Washington, meanwhile, had its contest against Oregon canceled due to COVID-19 issues. The game would have decided the Pac-12 North division, but the Huskies wouldn't have had the minimum 53 scholarship players available after pausing team activities Wednesday.

The Huskies, who had two games canceled overall this season, will advance to the conference title game with a 3-1 record while the Ducks will finish second in the Pac-12 North at 3-2.

This is USC's first appearance in the Pac-12 championship contest since 2017. Washington last played the conference finale in 2018.
