Temple-Rutgers postponed to Saturday due to Tropical Storm Ida
Rutgers' home opener against Temple has been moved to Saturday at noon ET due to the impact of Tropical Storm Ida, the program announced Thursday.
The Scarlet Knights were slated to take on the Owls on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. ET. However, flooding on Central Jersey roads forced the postponement, according to Keith Sargeant of NJ.com.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency Wednesday night as the state was affected by flooding and power outages. He advised residents to stay off the road Thursday morning as many streets remained flooded.
Rutgers previously announced a sellout crowd for its opener against Temple, which would have been the first home game with fans since Greg Schiano returned as head coach. It also would have been its first time eclipsing 50,000 attendees since 2016.
