Report: MAC expected to explore expansion

School officials from the Mid-American Conference are expected to discuss the possibility of expansion in the coming days, sources told Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky are among the teams that'll be discussed as expansion candidates, Thamel adds.

However, expansion isn't imminent, Thamel reports. A full discussion will need to be had first, and there's no urgency to expand at the moment.

There are currently 12 members in the MAC.
