Report: NFL teams looking into Michigan's Harbaugh as coaching candidate
Multiple NFL teams have been doing background work on Michigan's Jim Harbaugh as a potential head coaching candidate, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
Harbaugh has been frequently linked to an NFL return in recent years. He interviewed with the Minnesota Vikings last season but later said he was finished pursuing NFL interest and described the process as a "one-time thing."
The 58-year-old coach has led Michigan to two consecutive Big Ten championships. The Wolverines recorded 12 wins in 2021 before putting together a 13-0 record this season. Harbaugh posted a 74-24 mark with the program since joining in 2015.
He spent four seasons as the San Francisco 49ers head coach prior to joining Michigan. He won at least 11 games and earned a playoff berth in three of his four campaigns in charge. Harbaugh guided the 49ers to the Super Bowl in the 2012 season, but they were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens.
Harbaugh is under contract with Michigan through the 2026 season after inking a five-year extension in February.
