South Carolina made a huge splash Wednesday as the nation's top athlete, Nyckoles Harbor, announced his commitment to the Gamecocks.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Harbor played both tight end and edge rusher in high school and is ranked by ESPN as the No. 39 overall prospect in the 2023 class.
Harbor will also run track at South Carolina with visions of participating in the 2024 and 2028 Summer Olympics. He's a nationally ranked sprinter who ran the 100m in 10.3 seconds and the 200m in 20.7 seconds.
Michigan, Oregon, and Maryland were among the other programs vying for Harbor on National Signing Day. His addition gives Shane Beamer his highest-ranked recruit in the 2023 cycle.
